Film Club: Moonlight

Winston Theatre, 22 Sep, 7:30PM

After it’s release in 2016, Moonlight became the first film with an all-black cast and the first LGBT film to win the Oscar for Best Picture. It also won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture- Drama and the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Following the life of black-American Chiron through young adolescence, mid-teen and young adult, Moonlight tells a coming of age story of a young man from a tough Miami neighbourhood. It has been widely praised by critics, with Justin Chang of the Los Angeles Times saying, “Moonlight doesn’t say much. It says everything”. It’s certainly not to be missed.

Come along to Welcome Week’s Film Club and check out some of the cinematic delights we have on offer.
